Chevy Chase, MD – Victor O. Schinnerer & Company, one of the largest managing general underwriters in the U.S., announced that Steve Falecki has joined the company as vice president and Forest & Logging Practice Leader.
In his new role, Mr. Falecki will lead Schinnerer’s Forest & Logging underwriting unit housed in Sacramento, California. He will be based in the firm’s Sacramento office and report to Scott Thomas, senior vice president.
“The logging industry is poised for growth due to the recovery of the residential construction market, increased use of wood pellets for fuel, and higher demand in certain export markets. As such, the demand for industry-leading underwriting solutions will increase. I’m excited to join Schinnerer and lead this specialized team of underwriters as we further deliver value to this unique industry segment,” Mr. Falecki said.
Steve joins Schinnerer from Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company where he served as West Region Casualty Underwriting Director responsible for the management and underwriting oversight of the region’s admitted excess liability business.
Prior to Fireman’s Fund he worked for Marsh as a casualty client advisor, providing casualty risk management services and solutions for diverse industry groups including electric and gas utilities, agricultural companies, and distributors. He has also held various underwriting and brokerage positions at Safeco Insurance Company and Propel Insurance.
Mr. Thomas commented: “Schinnerer’s Forest & Logging program has seen continued growth year over year. Steve’s focus on the management of the business will allow us to build on our success in the logging sector and continue to deliver industry-leading solutions to the market.”
